When was the last time you did something for the first time?

This topic is on my mind all the time as I hear myself saying things like, my knee is sore therefore I can’t run or, “I don’t do that”… as my family laughs, knowing that I DO, DO THAT!

Limiting beliefs and thinking is a tough territory to maneuver. Most likely, people around us hear these limiting beliefs come out of our mouth when we don’t realize it. We say things and repeat them, ingraining in our minds and intellect with firm beliefs and positions, we argue for our own limiting paradigm.

I was walking Maggy (my lovely dog, awwww) the other day, and a neighbor said she started sailing lessons. She always wanted to learn to sail a boat. Inside me I was thinking, “that’s great, but are you in shape for that?” (of course that is my inner voice, I stood, transfixed as limiting thinking spewed out of my mind, my intellect was creating lots of limits, for me and for her…ughhhh).

We parted ways after a few minutes, as she told of flipping her boat and having fun and the instructor is great. She was gushing! She ended with, “I have a pillow with a saying, When was the last time you did something for the first time?”

I stopped in my tracks and couldn’t get those words out of my head.

When was the last time I did something for the first time? Hmmmm…too many been there, done that’s in my head. I have to venture out, if she can sail, what can I do?!

Well, I am going paddle boarding soon! Yup, never did that, sort of scared, and not sure I will be any good, but the essence is to break through the old thinking. I want to open my mind to new experiences and DO something new, DO something for the first time. Now is not the time to cave into the inner voice of can’t and shouldn’t, live for the first time in a new activity or thought!

Share your new thoughts and plan, use YOUR intellect to push you to stretch and move to a new area! I’m doing it. Why not you?? DOWNLOAD this week’s IDEASheet, go the extra mile!

I will post a picture of me on the paddle board on FaceBook! Stay tuned & SHARE your comments and experiences!
