5 Tips to Begin Positive Thinking

Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit. – e.e. Cummings

Loving your career starts with loving yourself. Positive thinking starts with loving ourselves. It may sound simplistic, but when you have self-love you are also able to create surroundings that you love (including your career). In fact, self-love is the first ingredient for success. So how do we love ourselves all over again? With a nice big helping of positive thinking!

We develop certain thought habits depending on the environment we grew up in.

I, like many women of my generation were given the thought program that other’s needs are more important than our’s.

4 Kick Ass Steps to Conquer Fear

Franklin D. Roosevelt, the past U.S. President, in the midst of dark days,  told us:  “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Though this is KICK ASS, we must ask how do we conquer this fear? Even more so, how do we have a life that is not defined by fear?

I deal with fear every day, mostly from my clients and sometimes from friends and family.  And, every now and then it creeps back up but fear is not welcome here anymore!

There is only one antidote to fear…LOVE!

Yes, acts of love will surely combat our internal feelings of fear.

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life

Change How You Look at Things and Things Will Change.

You are making your reality and feeling state through your subconscious programming. Our thinking determines everything. We are habitually processing the world and ourselves in certain, habitually programmed ways.

How we think controls it all.

We are all operating in our lives with filters, and stories and programs that determine our thinking, our actions and what we stress or don’t stress about. Our minds are always “on” there is a little voice, you hear it? The little voice is running around in your mind telling you how to look at the world and how you are in the world.

Success Secrets from Saying Grace- Thanks Mom

I come from Irish- Catholic roots. My mom and dad were both raised that way as well. There are 6 of us, five girls and one boy. We were taught to behave, be quiet and to do good- in school and for others. My mom taught me most of those lessons, which is directly related the all the success I have had, internally and externally! (My dad did too, but we are all about Moms this week!) My success is largely attributed to my upbringing.

She taught all of us from her words, but most importantly through her own actions. My mother went to college to be a nurse. She could have been anything she wanted to be but she loves people and wants to comfort and take care,

The Best Way to Reduce Conflict & Tension Right Now!

Conflict and tension are part of self-doubt and self-protection. I heard all the time as an executive, “we tried that already, it will never work.”

“Well, have ‘we’ tried it this way?” I would say back. The push back, the fear, the frustration would come out and more effort and agony for a project that could have been so smooth. How do we do it better? Differently?

Pushing through these very human limited thinking habits in ourselves and in others requires getting primitive. Erasing doubt and operating with full confidence requires imagination and returning to our most primitive self- the self of LOVE.

Fear is the root of anger, tension,

Everything I Learned About Life and Career in The Vineyard

Do you enjoy wine? Do you enjoy the curvy, leafy growth of the vines? Love driving past acres and acres of grape growth lined up for miles? The symmetry, the beauty of nature revealed on a hillside, along a country road? Wine is a magical beverage, biblical, historical, wondrous in its variety and complexity. I was recently in a new (new to me) wine region of the country, Paso Robles, California. We went to enjoy some time away and see different terrain, have cooler weather and just kick back for a  few days.

Back in action now, are you ready for a Career Shift? A clarity Call?

Running along the vineyards early in the dewy morning I was struck by the early spring growths.

Pay Attention to Your Sneak Peeks

Pay Attention to Your Sneak Peeks – to Bring You Joy

All my life I have had moments that seem to stop time, moments when life stops and the moment gets seared into my mind, my heart and my soul.

Climbing trees, climbing monkey bars at playgrounds, performing yo-yo tricks in the 8th grade to wow my friends and family, walking the stage to accept my honor cord in high school, speaking to my nursing class as a senior graduating, feeling so alive on certain runs in the cold winter months, nothing could be better.

My favorite book as a young girl was “The Little Engine That Could” by Watty Piper.

Something deep spoke to me about that determined little engine being asked to climb the mountain.

5 shifts to your KickAss Career: Shift #5 Invest in Mentoring

SHIFT #5 Invest in Mentoring

“Why won’t anyone listen to me?”

I’ve had times in my career where I knew the answer, had the strategy, but was way off with the organization. I banged my head on the table (not really) until I was in pain (really).

How do you know how to navigate the next level up? The next level over? Or, how to make sense of the empty, hollow feeling inside, even when you are a success, but it just isn’t all that it was cracked up to be?

I hired my first coach 16 years ago. I recently came across the receipt. (Yes, I save way too much.) She helped me see that being right isn’t the goal.

5 shifts to your KickAss Career: Shift #4 Leverage Your Time

Shift # 4 Leveraging Your Time

Did it all start in Alice in Wonderland? “You’re late, you’re late, for a very important date.”

Or as our mom or dad pulled us from bed in the morning, “come on, you’re going to be late!”

We have heard of the scarcity of time since the beginning of time!

We are all given 24 hours to each day- all of us, rich, poor, famous, normal, struggling and gurus. How you handle the 24 hours and how you place time on your values determines the amount of perceived rush, struggle and chaos. Our rush to beat time, our push to maximize time is all an illusion anyway.

5 Shifts to Your KickAss Career: Shift #3 Own The Room

In all my years of success as a healthcare executive – there are 2 main success strategies- engaging people and presenting well. I spent many years thinking that you had to be “slick” to present well or a natural. I took it for granted that you either have it or you don’t! I was wrong!
