Wake Up Wanting to Feel Good…Here’s How

I have been upbeat all my life….but the inner talk has been challenging over the years….until I did this.

For years the first thought I had in the morning, was “Oh no, not again!” Many mornings I woke up early to go on a run. The early morning run was my feel good start to the day. I yearned to have this feeling last as long as I could.

But….that runner’s’ high and that self-talk of “way to go Mo” barely lasted to my commute to the office!

Then I added CD’s, motivational books and everything I could to FEEL BETTER on my drive in. How in the “blue blazes” was I to feel good with work pressures, colleagues who were not trustworthy, bosses who demanded the impossible and sometimes the feeling that I couldn’t work more, harder or figure out the puzzle of why I was so burnt out!

I JUST WANTED TO FEEL BETTER!

Then, a few things happened. I turned up my desire to feel better….I decided I was going to DO THIS! Then, as a good student who sticks with it…..the light bulbs went off.

I learned the true secret to FEELING GOOD ALL DAY.

Finally, I understood the depth of one of the most compelling quotes in spiritual and personal development. The “AHA” moment could have lit up all of South Florida.

“You must be the change you want to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi

I thought that meant doing something to change the world. Struggling to make sense of this statement I finally figured it out.

Numerous Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra teachings, to feel the way you want to feel when you have that big job, when you have that perfect relationship, when you have all that money.

HOW??

I began my gratitude journaling. Each day I wrote what I was grateful for, early morning, every morning.

And then…when I woke up, the minutes before my feet hit the ground, I would practice in my head, my gratitude. Months later, it was almost instant upon waking. When my body hurts or I haven’t slept well it takes a few minutes for the inner dialogue to get back to gratitude.

The number one way I found to feel better all the time is to REGULARLY, DAILY Practice GRATITUDE. Not just in your head, I appreciate….. I am grateful for…

Here’s the practice:

  1. Write your gratitude list of 10 items each day.
  2. Re-read the list slowly and FEEL the feelings of gratitude, feel it.
  3. Add up to 3 items that are future, but state them in the future.
  4. Repeat the list again with your hand over your heart and breathe into your heart.
  5. DO this everyday.
  6. DO this in the same journal or notebook.
  7. Number the day in a row….that’s it, you want to obsess about something, keep the routine going, non- stop, each day, get in the zone!
  8. Fill that journal with gratitude, baby!
  9. FEEL IT! FEEL IT!

Then, once you are solidly in the routine of gratitude you will feel differently. Once you feel different on a regular basis, you will be the change you want to see in the world. Because, then you will feel the way you want when you get…

Now, you won’t be dependent on the outside sources for how you feel. You will be in charge of feeling great. You, the “CEO of you” will be in charge of how your feel!

Go ahead, make a commitment, feel great each day. Be in charge of how you feel and BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE ON THE WORLD!
